Conservative: At 17 years of age you don`t say what occurred to cause problems in your knee, but at your age I`m sure the Orthopedist will be as conservative as possible because you have many, many years ahead of you. Be patient and take your medications and physical therapy as faithfully as possible.

Knee pain: Depends upon intra articular anatomy now, but a reconstruction seems in your future. Ask your surgeon.
