My 6yr/0 has had dry cough 2wks today he woke up cough sounding productive and sinuses congested. dr said virus 2wks ago but cough sounds different ?

New?: Is this new symptoms after a resolution of what made you take him to see the doctor 2 weeks ago? If he got better and now with new symptoms this might be related to another virus. However, if these are persistent symptoms for 2 weeks in a row he might need to be seen again to check for a possible bacterial infection after the initial virus. If he is having trouble breathing please go now to ED.

See Dr again: Viruses can decrease your immune system and the risk of a bacterial infection, or another virus is always possible. Best to see the Dr. for an examination with the change in cough and symptoms, to assure it is not bacterial or in need of any medications to be Rx by doc. Best wishes.
