When are the most trying times for a person newly diagnosed with serious cancer? what is your experience with cancer patients?

Stages..: I am not clear in what the question is but if you are asking about the person's reaction after diagnosis, people usually go through 4 stages: denial( they deny the condition or act like it does not exist), anger( they get very angry at life, others or God), negotiation( the person tries to negotiate a solution with God or life), acceptance( person finally accepts condition and treatment/options.
