A member asked:

Have you ever seen severe myelodysplastic changes in peripheral blood smears of septic cancer patients?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nothing special: Sepsis can affect the blood temporarily. All you have to do is repeat the CBC and you should see those changes disappear in a matter of few days. if the changes persist, then you have to get suspicious for a possible diagnosis of MDS. But MDS will result in low blood counts. So send us your CBC results and we can interpret it for you and guide you further.
