Cold Calves: Lower extremity coldness can be due to many conditions, too numerous to discuss here. With hormonal fluctuations, as a woman approaches menopause, there may be a phenomenon of superficial vascular hyper-reactivity. Dilation is often described by many women as hot flashes, dizziness, sweating, etc. If vessels constrict, blood flow decreases, the skin will cool, hence the cold limbs.
