See below: Recent controlled study failed to prove a benefit from "helmet treatment" for flat head (plagiocephaly). In fact, most of plagiocephaly improves by itself as child grows.

2nd opinion: The term flat head is not very specific. A few may benefit from helmet therapy while a lot self correct. If the idea of waiting to see bothers you,get a 2nd opinion form another doc with appropriate experience evaluating these cases.
