PTSD: This may not be what you have, but you asked what was the first thing that I think of when someone gives that type of history, and for me, it is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. People with PTSD have a heightened "startle response" so loud noises or sudden movements can trigger various responses - anxiety, panic etc.
