Please don't ignore: The acuity (or not) of your complaint determines the urgency of your evaluation. You may have anal or rectal trauma, a large hemorrhoid or fissure causing hesitancy, pelvic floor dysfunction with altered rectal function, colonic inertia with slow transit, irritable bowel syndrome, procto-colitis (infectious, inflammatory, ischemic), extrinsic impression against gut, lots more. Go see your doctor.

See Your Doctor Now: History of abdominal pain, flatulence (gas), stool softener points to constipation; usually a chronic problem. More info needed: duration of symptoms, stool pattern, stool appearance, dietary habits & more. Detailed exam also needed. Stool softeners r not curative. Inadequate dietary fiber & fluid is cause; correcting this is curative. See doctor for diagnosis/treatment so you can feel better soon
