See a Doctor: Periods are suppose to last about 7 days maximum. Bleeding for 17 days requires evaluation. May be secondary to your BCP. However, it is wiser to get checked. You may have a polyp or cyst or a hormonal problem. Most of the time there is no reason at your age and we call it dysfunctional bleeding. Good Luck!

Would not worry: This is probably just your body adjusting to the hormones in the new birth control pills. If you are bleeding heavily please see your doctor to be checked for anemia. You body can take a few months to adjust to the new dose of BC pills. If not see your doctor.
