Cycle changes: Your question implies that you have had an ultrasound based on your description of the cyst. Menstrual cycle variability usually causes cysts to develop. The size of the cyst does not necessarily relate to the amount of discomfort you will have. It may reabsorb on it's own or rupture. If it ruptures there may be more pain initially from irritation from the blood, but then the pain should dissipate

Keep in contact: with your Gynecologist! Follow his/her advice. We often have more pain when we know something is "not right" ! If the pain continues to worsen you need to be seen again by a GYN Provider! Good luck Hope this helps Dr Z

Are you saying...: ...that you are in more pain now than when it was discovered? That's not surprising, if it is sensitive to hormonal changes. You need to stay in touch with your gynecologist, who may have advised laparascopic removal +/- biopsy. 7.4cm is significant - about the size of an average ovary itself, depending on your age. A definitive treatment plan can only be developed once the doc has biopsy results.
