A member asked:

I had a risky sexual encounter over ten years ago. i took two oraquick tests a couple of weeks ago both negative. are they reliable after ten years?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Though Sensitivity is about 92% meaning that 8% of people with actual HIV could get a false negative test. If the test is positive it is 1 in a 5000 times likely to be accurate. However in either case a confirmatory test is needed
