Knee Nightmare: Knee pain can be a symptom of a local problem or referred from another joint like the hip or ankle. Most intrinsic problems of the knee, if acute, are due to a soft tissue, supporting structure injury. Inflammatory diseases can also affect the knee (gout, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis). Ice added to any regimen is great, inexpensive and can be repeated indefinitely with little adverse effects.
