Need to be careful: Actually St. John's wort has been known to cause neurological concerns such as SEIZURES, states of confusion and there are interactions with other medications as well as OTC types of drugs and preparations so one must be careful. Any doubts, check with your doctor or the pharmacists.

St Johns Wort: must be given under close medical supervision to avoid potentially life threatening side effects like serotonergic syndrome. Do not take with other OTC meds without consulting your doctor.

Relatively safe: It's a photosensitizer -- stay out of bright sunlight. And in combination with certain other meds, it can make you sick ("serotonin syndrome"). It's quite powerful. Many folks find it helpful. Visit with your physician about it. Best wishes.
