Can be: Related to the idea that certain tumors can secrete hormones similar to your own red blood cell stimulating hormone(erythropoietin) that cause your bone marrow to increase red cell production and your overall red blood cell counts. Anemia from cancer is often related to inflammation that stuns the bone marrow or just "replacement" of the bone marrow when the cancer spreads.
