Acute pain only: The diazepam has some skeletal muscle relaxant properties, its basic effect is to reduce anxiety through their sedative action. Although diazepam is not true analgesic, it is indicated in the management of acute muscle pain.

Not really: Benzodiazepines (which Valium or diazepam) is the protocol drug for the family is not particularly potent or effective for neuropathic types of pain thought it may be good for the anxiety that many people have when they have neuropathic pain which is unresponsive to other options of pain relief.
