Osteoporosis: Osteoporosis generally affects most of the bones-some more than others. It may be seen on xrays but a nuclear bone density study is the most accurate test to detect it.

Usually: Usually affects whole skeleton to certain degree. Sometimes extremities and spine may vary in degree of demineralization. A non walking individual would have more demineralization in legs than spine.

It can: It does affect the entire skeleton but areas of more stress or use show the changes more and also are more significant with regard to function. It is important to have the tests done and a visit to your provider to determine what type of osteoporosis and what type of calcium , vit D parathyroid hormone levels sex hormones etc are involved in preventing or stabilizing it
