Colonoscopy is best: Colonoscopy is the best test to detect and remove colon polyps. It examines the entire colon. A sigmoidoscopy examines the last 1/3 of the colon and if polyps are found a colonoscopy is recommended. Ct colography and barium enema are radiologic tests to evaluate for colon polyps but these are less sensitive and, if polyps are found, you still need a colonoscopy for polyp removal.
