Unusual: Its an unusual defect ...means that the top portions of the vertebrae are connected.. not of any concern unless interferes with motion (flexion/extension) Hope this helps Dr Z

Born that way: This means you were born with two (or more) of the back part of the vertebral bones, connected together. This can restrict some local movement between those two bones. This is the part of the vertebrae that you can see stick out like bumps down the midline of the back in skinny people. Nothing to worry about.
