TMJ issues: The space maintainer (retainer), if that is what you are wearing, should not be causing your TMJ issues. It is basically a removable partial denture, and the fit and bite should be passive. Did your symptoms start after the surgery? Could be from having your mouth open wide for a while. Talk to your surgeon about this.
