Ultrasound revealed 4cm shadow on kidney. referred to urologist. what could it be?

Depends: Ultrasound is not the best test for a kidney "shadow" . This could be a cyst/,mass or over read. I would suggest seeing the urologist and deciding if a better test such as a MRI or CT is indicated. Good luck

Here are some ...: A shadow on US indicates something blocking sound wave, usually stone(s), which will be further demonstrated with an abdomen film (KUB) since most of renal stones are radiopaque. More? Ask Doc timely for details. Best wishes ...
