Prognosis Poor: Unfortunately there is no treatment for Lewy body dementia. The development of dysphagia is an ominous sign. I recommend you discuss hospice care with his treating provider. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

Difficult swallowing: Lewy bodydz- casuing Progressive rigidity of muscles of swallowing-shows the advancing disease. patients are at increased of aspiration of food contents into lungs , hence consider consulting his neurologist with this symp. ,have a swallow evaluation which will help to decide safer consistency foods for the patient. At one point a phase may come when no longer the patient can be fed by mouth

Dementia: The prognosis for cognition in his lewy body dementia is very poor. A gastroenterologist could better advise you about the cause and treatment of his dysphagia and whether it's due to mechanical obstruction or neuropathology.
