Depends on what lab: Routine liver function tests usually include: bilirubin, ALT and AST (transaminases), alkaline phosphatase. The concern level increases as the number and levels of these enzymes increase. An ultrasound will only look at the structure of the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts. It may look for gallstones or blockage of bile ducts, or liver masses, fat or scarring. Other blood tests may follow
