Appearance: Ask if it looks fatty. Also ask about your gall bladder. These can be seen, and can cause high enzymes. Good luck.

None yet: Most common causes of elevated liver enzymes in young healthy patients is inflammation related to deposition of fat in liver cells. This is usually related to diet. Alternatively elevated liver enzymes may be related to liver inflammation from other issues such as hepatitis or bile duct problems. An ultrasound can check on the liver, bile ducts and gallbladder and can usually detect "fatty liver".

None yet: Also alcohol intake can cause elevation of liver enzymes. Ultrasound would often be normal unless there is advanced liver scarring present.

Good idea: Ultrasound will pick up whether the liver is fatty; if so, we'll want to consider alcohol, metabolic syndrome (a fitness program might be a great idea) or something similar; regardless, expect to be checked for wilson's, hemochromatosis, the viral hepatitis family, autoimmune hepatitis, and medication effect. These are all deadly if missed, but treatable if caught. Good luck.
