Inflammation: of the uvula, the conical structure that hangs down in the back of the throat. The uvula can become swollen as part of a viral or bacterial infection, esp. strep.throat, allergy to a food, chronic irritation from smoking, alcohol, acid reflux or xs hot or cold foods, or dryness from mouth breathing,, esp snoring. Rx and contagion depends on cause. Salt water gargles may help to relieve sx.

Good handwashing: Uvulitis is an inflamation of the Uvula. The small amount of tissue hanging down in the back of your throat. Most of the time this is viral caused but sometimes it can be bacterial and need antibiotics. No sharing drinks,kissing on the lips and good thorough handwashing will prevent spread.
