See a doctor!: Hi. I can't tell you what the rib thing is, but difficulty breathing can be life-threatening, and can result from asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, chest wall trauma (perhaps related to your rib thing), etc. But difficulty breathing should be acted on quickly. Good luck!
