Tough: How long has problem occurred ? Could be many causes. Early shingles, spasms between ribs, irritation at rib/cartilage junction, something going on in lung base, somatic (muscles and connective tissue). You are going to need to get this one checked out.

Pain below rib cage: Could be gas in colon or lung issues infection versus clot, ( especially if on birth control and smoke) , or spleen if had injury, or kidney stone / or gastritis / GERD. Since there is concern o f clot would f/u/ w/ doc / urgent care ER today.
