Common cold: To avoid getting an upper respiratory infection practice excellent hand washing. Wash hands frequently & thoroughly with warm water and soap. Do not touch mouth, eyes or hands unless hands are clean. Avoid contact with people who have upper respiratory infections. Cover coughs. Tips: Sore throat – gargle with warm salt water (1/2 tsp salt in 8 oz of water). Get strep test/culture if very sore. >
