Have her seen: A patient with SCD has a poorly on non functioning spleen and because of this can not fight certain infections. She needs to be seen quickly, have blood work and receive antibiotics to help fight infection. All the best. Her SCD makes her immunocompromised.

Sickle cell/ fever: If your daughter has sickle cell and a fever, seek medical attention at doctor/urgent care/ER within 24 hours. Fever is never normal and in sickle cell it could be due to infection and cause a crisis.

Fever with SCD: Children with sickle cell disease (SCD) can quickly become dangerously ill with infection. In the US, it is generally recommended that patients with SCD who develop a fever be immediately evaluated by a physician or ER for consideration of hospitalization. Staying healthy (get vaccinated, wash hands, etc.) to avoid infection rather than masking the fever with medicine is the prevention.
