Unclear: 'Hip' is a nebulous term which can mean top of the femur bone, pelvic crest, etc.Treatment depends on diagnosis.Top of femur bone pain could be bruise, tendon inj., fracture, inflamed nerve,etc.Trochanter could be any of those plus things like bursitis.A good history & phys. incl osteopathic hands-on exam may provide some answers.Treatments may incl meds, heat/cold, prolotherapy, manipulation, etc
