It varies: The term is used to describe several types of depression. Reactive depression occurs following the death of a loved on, a serious illness or other challenging life events. It is normal to experience sadness and depression. If the sadness does not lift after a year or so and gets worse or if there has been no event to trigger the depression it may be clinical depression.or bipolar
