UV burn: Welder's flash is a uv burn of the corneal skin like a sunburn on your regular skin. It is quite painful although topical anesthetics can take away much of that. However these inhibit healing and are not advised except for diagnostic purposes. Thorough and frequent lubrication is usually used along with systemic analgesics and sometimes bandage contact lenses. These heal quickly fortunately.
