Should a 2 month old baby be sent to daycare with croup cough? is it contagious?

Confusing question: In more than 3 decades of caring for kids, I have never labeled a 2 month old as having the croup.Cough, maybe, and usually from environmental irritants, and not contagious,but never croup. Any crouping at that age would indicate an airway abnormality that deserves evaluation (laryngomalacia).
