Needs evaluation: prior to starting anxiety medication, a complete history and physical examination should be performed by your pediatrician and then referral to specialist to help teen manage and treat the anxiety. Medication should not be the only intervention. As with any medication, side effects are possible and proper follow up needs to be arranged and adhered to.
