A member asked:

If i have an unusual growth on the side of my head, is it likely cancerous?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: Few lesions growing on the side of the head are benign. Most are cutaneous in origin and represent basal cell Ca, squamous Ca and melanoma. Some unusual lesion like adenoid cystic Ca also seen as well as various blood vessel lesions. In rarer instances metastatic lesions can spread to the scalp. Biopsy is indicated and resection afterward depending on the pathology. May then need RT.
