Eustachian tube: The throat connects to the middle ear via a tube called the Eustachian tube. It gets blocked when the throat swells due to a sore throat. This decreases pressure in the middle ear and reduces the movement of the bones in the middle ear. These middle ear bone movements enable sound. So when they move less, there is dampening of sound. Should get better with improvement of sore throat.
