How do you treat toxoplasmosis at 31 weeks pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends...: Which antibiotic is used for a new toxoplasmosis infection in pregnancy depends on if the infection has spread to the baby or not. Special testing is needed to know this. If it hasn't spread to the baby, Spiramycin is often used. It doesn't cross the placenta so risk to baby is minimal. If baby is infected, Pyrimethamin is used as it crosses the placenta. Best wishes!
