A member asked:

My wife has toxoplasmosis and she is 6 weeks pregnant, can it be cure? and does that means the fetus has the toxo also?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Congenital toxo: Congenital toxoplasmosis is an infection by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii which spreads to a developing baby through the placenta. Symptoms in the baby can include eye damage, hearing loss, seizures and developmental delays (more severe if infection occurs early in pregnancy). Newborns with it will often have enlarged liver/spleen, and have a rash. Mothers can be treated with antibiotics.
