How are tracheoesophageal fistulas and polyhydramnios related?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Disrupted circulatio: The amniotic fluid is in a delicate balance with mom's circulation. Over a 24 hour time period amniotic fluid gets exchanged several times. The fetus is part of this equation. The fetus' lungs are typically filled with fluid. If there is a fistula between the trachea and the esophagus, the equation is disrupted, resulted in excess amniotic fluid.
