4 Basic Steps: Prodrome- itching, tingling, burning. Vesicle Formation- blisters arise on lip or skin. Ulceration- blisters pop and ulcers form. Healing- ulcers resolve which can take a week or more. Medication such as Valtrex (valacyclovir) can lessen the severity if taken during prodrome. Laser treatment can speed healing as well.- http://www.laserdentistbaltimore.com/mouth-ulcer-and-cold-sore-laser-treatment/
