A member asked:

What are the serious side effects when taking fosamax (alendronate)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very rare: Hi. Alendronate (Fosamax) is a very safe drug, but like almost anything, there are rare serious side effects. For alendronate, these would be esophageal irritation, osteonecrosis of the jaw, and atypical femur fractures. Good luck!
