Most likely: Hi. Alendronate can cause a serious side effect most likely by getting stuck in the esophagus (e.g., stricture or achalasia). Other very rare serious (& fortunately very rare) side effects are things like osteonecrosis of the jaw in people who've had radiation to the jaw, usually for cancer. Alendronate's a very good osteoporosis or Paget's drug, but it's not for everyone. Good luck!
