Cause of lesion: Some people have slightly elevated bilirubin, less than 5.0 mg/dL and are none the worse for it. It depends more on why your bilirubin is elevated rather than the level per se. The reasons can be hemolytic anemia, hepatitis, gall stones, cirrhosis and some cancers.
