A member asked:

I read on a medical website that when you get gallstones your gallbladder has already stopped working. is that true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cholelithiasis: or gallstones are a buildup of cholesterol and bile acid in your gall bladder. They are a common finding and occur in symptomatic or asymptomatic persons. The presence of gallstones does not mean your gallbladder has stopped working.
