Blighted ovum: A blighted ovum is a fertilized egg which is not growing, and at some point will abort spontaneously. HCG levels will go to zero sometimes prior to expulsion of the blighted ovum. Ovulation may occur any time, since the blighted ovum will not prevent it , but chances are pregnancy will not result until the blighted ovum is passed.
