Dentist: In the USA the dental community is exceptionally well trained and competent and the mantra of universal precautions and their concern for the welfare of their patients has resulted in uniform methods of sterilization which are almost always quite effective. It never hurts to ask, and am sure your dentist will not be offended by this question. Best wishes.

Dentist he used ultrasonic scaler to clean some of my teeth. I am worried he did not change the device tip. I was first patient in the morning device was not used for at least 12 hrs before it was used in me. Hiv/hep risk as gums bleeds at cleaning?
So I went to the salon 3 months ago and when he filed me with that abrasive file, I bled. Is there any chance of getting HIV or other diseases, considering that I don't know if the equipment was sterilized?
