How long does it take after your first missed period for over-the-counter pregnancy tests to give an accurate result?

It depends.: It depends on the type of test. Most are accurate at 10-11 days after the first missed period, but sometimes even with first AM urine, a false negative result can occur. Best to check after 2 weeks in that case.

See Below: Home pregnancy tests can show positive as early as 3-4 days after implantation. Implantation generally occurs 6-12 days after ovulation. So if the egg was fertilized right at ovulation and you used the most sensitive home test it could be positive at 9 days. On average it is 13-14 days after fertilization/ovulation when it is positive. So, we recommend about 5-6 days after your period is missed.
