Platelet count and: Coagulation tests. Purpura is usually due to deficiency of platelets or increased vascular fragility. Ecchymosis may be due to more severe cases of the above and or coagulation defects. Testing beyond cbc, pt PTT is based on the results of these tests and clinical signs and symptoms.
