L5s1 disc bulge (mar '13). recently started running again (treadmill 5k). pain in disc when running and slight numbness in tailbone. stop running?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Stop running for now: Running may not be the best exercise for you when you are still recovering from a lumbar disc bulge. I suggest you try some low impact exercises like a stairclimber, stationary bike, elliptical machine or swimming for a while until the condition heals a bit more. You'll get the aerobic effect of exercise without the risk of inflaming the disc.
