NO: Your condition is also known as chondromalacia patella or patellar pain syndrome. The recommendation is not to run at this time until you see your doctor. You need some physiotherapy to strengthen the thigh and hip muscles and RICE Rest, ice, compression and elevation Meds like advil (ibuprofen) will also help.. Crosstraining will also help as getting some of the weight off the knee such as swimming. See doc.

No: If you want to exercise try swimming or water exersise (aerobics), Runnubg is very hard on the knees.

No running: I agree with Dr. Minich -- swimming, yoga, and biking would be less stressful for your knee right now. Please also work with a physical therapist to strengthen the supporting knee muscles.
