Some people only: think about herpes simplex virus being in genital area or near mouth. Bottom line is that herpes simplex can go to another part of the body - like a finger, or your eye or your butt.

Herpes: There are various forms of herpes. Were you told what form it is? There is of course, genital herpes which is considered an STD. Then there is herpex simplex, which is the form seen with cold sores. Finally, there is herpes zoster, more commonly known as "shingles" which is associated with chicken pox virus. I would think you should be on an antiviral medication. Recheck with your doctor
